Who would’ve thought a gym rat could make it this far? Honestly, I didn’t expect it either. Picture this: navigating a challenging journey—uphill both ways, through the trenches, with trench foot filled boots—driven by pure determination. I’m kidding; it wasn’t that dramatic. The truth is, if you put in the effort and stay consistent, you can achieve whatever you set your sights on, especially in the world of health and fitness. That’s the core message I want to share in my blogs. Show up, do the right thing most of the time, and your health and fitness goals are well within reach. I'm going to share the right thing part and hopefully some help on doing it most of the time too.
But here’s the exciting part: I’m now a Registered Dietitian (RD). Hopefully, that gives you even more reason to listen to what I have to say. My journey has been fueled by a deep passion for health and fitness, and earning my RD was my way of ensuring I truly understand what I’m talking about. Now that I’ve got the credentials, I’m eager to share everything I’ve learned about getting in shape—without making you go through five years of schooling to figure it out.
Dietitian vs Nutritionist
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty, let's clear something up that everyone in the health and fitness space needs to understand—the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian. In most places, the title "nutritionist" isn't protected, meaning anyone can slap it on their business card, regardless of whether they know their macros from their micros. The title of Registered Dietitian, however, is different. It's a protected title, which means only those who meet strict educational and professional requirements can use it. And with that title comes the responsibility to provide evidence-based nutrition information—no pseudoscience allowed, or you could face legal consequences.
So, when you see "dietitian," you know you’re dealing with someone who knows their stuff. With a nutritionist? Well, let's just say it's a roll of the dice. If you’re dealing with a naturopath... well, the odds aren’t in your favor.
My Background
For anyone unfamiliar with me, my name is Max and I have dedicated my life and recently became a registered dietitian as a stepping stone in my fitness journey to become that guy in the fitness space.
Like all Registered Dietitians in Canada, I had to earn my stripes—no shortcuts here. I completed my undergraduate degree in Applied Human Nutrition, and it was during that time that I thought, “Hey, why not start a business helping people get stronger and crush their fitness goals?”. So, at the age of 20, I did just that. Honestly, I’m still surprised anyone listened to me back then, but shoutout to those early clients who took a chance on a kid with big dreams—and hey, they got great results, so I know I was doing something right!
After my degree, I dove headfirst into an 11-month internship where I got to play dietitian in various settings, from pediatrics to the ICU, diabetes care, and public health. It was like the ultimate nutrition boot camp, complete with life lessons and a list of reasons why children are scary.
The result? All said and done I get to call myself an RD. A rock-solid belief that nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about figuring out what works for each person—whether you’re gunning for a new personal best or trying to eat more veggies without gagging.
So, after years of balancing books, athletes, and a whole lot of food talk, I’m here, fully equipped with experience, a few good stories, and a commitment to helping you hit your health and fitness goals without losing your mind in the process.
What I am Doing Now

Yes, I have a 9-5 like most people, and yes, my goal is to do everything I can over the next 12 months so I don't have to go back to it. So, for the next year, I’ll be cranking out content on Instagram and writing blogs like this one, all aimed at helping you crush your fitness goals—and hopefully securing a few more clients so I can finally say goodbye to the universally dreaded 9-5.
As I mentioned earlier, two years ago, I started a business where I work with athletes to boost their performance through nutrition. But it’s not just for athletes—I also help busy adults who want to get stronger and shed some pounds. My mission is to make health and fitness accessible and achievable for everyone, whether you’re a weekend warrior or just trying to get through the workday without feeling exhausted.
I know firsthand how tough it can be to balance work, life, and staying fit. I’ve been there, juggling a full-time job while trying to keep up with training, meal prepping, and, you know, occasionally sleeping. That’s why I’m committed to sharing tips and strategies that are not only effective but also realistic for people with packed schedules. Whether it’s finding quick and easy meal ideas, squeezing in a workout during your lunch break, or just staying motivated when life gets hectic, I’ve got you covered.
Over the next 12 months, I’m pouring everything I’ve learned into this content—no fluff, just practical advice that works. And along the way, I’ll be sharing my own journey of trying to build this business into something that lets me do what I love full-time. It’s going to be a wild ride, but I’m excited to take it on, and I hope you’ll join me for the journey. Let’s make the next year the one where we both level up—whether that’s hitting new personal bests, dropping those last stubborn pounds, or, in my case, finally trading in the 9-5 for something that fuels my passion every day.
If this sounds cool to you I would love to have you come along for the journey. Follow me on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok (@thecarbohydratecarnivore) for tips, workouts, and inspiration.
